Peturs is closing for refurbishment on the 6th September 2008.

With its rich red walls, glittering chandeliers, polished silver ice buckets and sumptuous decoration, Petrus, tucked away in the Berkeley Hotel is the perfect place to be cosseted and indulged. Marcus Wareing, is responsible for the menu of exquisite classic French dishes. This Knightsbridge restaurant offers classic French cooking with a lightness of touch and a modern twist. Whether it’s the full a la carte menu or the more affordable lunch time set menu, the emphasis here is on taste and well sourced ingredients to create unforgettable classic dishes.

Top tips for booking Petrus:
Getting into London’s top restaurants can be tough. Here are some top tips for booking success:

- Book in advance. Petrus only takes reservations exactly two calendar months prior to the requested booking date.

- Look for alternative days. Friday and Saturday evenings are the most popular times to dine out. Try dining earlier in the week – Mondays or Tuesdays are good bets.

- Be flexible with times. The most popular booking times are in the mid-evening, so take a look at dining earlier in the evening or even late at night, around 10pm or after.

We visited Petrus as a special birthday treat for my son who decided to take Earl Grey Tea as his aperitif whilst we took the champagne, the waiters were happy to oblige without concern. The meal was very enjoyable and nothing was too much trouble. Perhaps a little too many fish dishes on the menu for our carniverous family. The aroma of fresh roses filled the air of the restaurant on entering.

The Petrus is probably my favourite restaurant of all time. The Food was fantastic and could not be faulted! We went for the lunchtime menu, which was a mere £35 for a 3 course meal (excellent value for a 2 michellin star restaurant). And the extras such as the amuse bouche, pre-dessert and the bon bon trolley were little gems. We even managed to get Marcus to sign our menu. A sheer delight!

Petrus is one of those places, a real 'thank you' you are happy to pay for. The food is beautiful, flavours go on and on from the tiniest mouthful, complimentary 'between course' delicasies are a delight. We took our time, they took theirs with service which was perfect, professional, informative and friendly but not intrusive. It is closing in September, will not be a Gordon Ramsay 6 weeks later but Marcus Wareing is apparently keeping it as his. Good, because I'll be back for anniversaries.

Petrus was everything we had hoped for and more. Immaculate friendly service, wonderful, sublime food and a terrific ambience. We chose from the a la carte menu although the fixed price lunch looked interesting, my husband's birthday desire for foie gras had to be met. Each little tasty amuse bouche we were offered was yummy and the bons bons to die for at the end. In sum, an excellent experience which we hope to repeat in the future, bravo Marcus Wareing and Alyn Williams!

Excellent service, staff were very friendly at the Petrus. Both my husband and I had the tasting menu although we regretted this as by the end of the courses we were too full to saviour the tastes properly. The food was cooked beautifully. We had different wines with each course which again was a mistake - it cost almost £200 for the wine and although it matched the food perfectly it wasn't always to our palate. The Petrus is highly recommended for a special occasion but be prepared to pay.

Petrus truely lived up to its reputation. We settled on the set lunch menu which was excllent. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Service unobtrusive but attentive. The bon bon trolley was sublime. We will definitely return there in the future.

Went to Petrus with my son who is a chef. A special birtthday treat. And that is just what it was-special. All the staff were friendly, efficient and very attentive. Besides the wonderful food we also got a visit around the kitchen, a signed menu and some gorgeous chocolates to take home. The turkish delight was to die for. We had the set lunch menu and my son reckoned the starter was the best thing he had ever tasted. Very full at end of meal. Wine prices a bit steep!
